Han’s Laser Empowers Shipbuilding with Advanced “Laser+” Technologies

Wuhan, China — At the recent International Shipbuilding Industry Technology & Offshore Equipment Exhibition in Wuhan, Han’s Laser Intelligent Equipment Group was honored with the title of “Pioneer in Smart and Green Shipbuilding” during the 2025 Inland River Shipbuilding Green Intelligent Manufacturing Development Forum.

This recognition highlights Han’s Laser’s outstanding contribution to advancing innovation, efficiency, and sustainability across the shipbuilding and marine engineering sectors.

Advancing Smart Manufacturing and Green Transformation

The award focuses on innovation in shipbuilding, green vessel design, and advanced laser processing technologies—key areas driving high-quality growth across the global shipbuilding industry.

Han’s Laser was recognized for its linear-rail ultra-large-format laser cutting systems, which deliver exceptional performance in efficiency, precision, and environmental protection. These systems are progressively replacing traditional plasma and flame cutting technologies, enabling shipyards to achieve higher productivity and cleaner, smarter manufacturing.

This recognition follows Han’s Laser’s inclusion in the Shipbuilding Industry Strong Chain Brand Product Catalog, further confirming its leadership in industrial modernization and technological advancement within the shipbuilding supply chain.

“Laser+” Technology Empowering Next-Generation Shipbuilding

Ultra-Large-Format Laser Cutting Systems

In modern shipbuilding, around 70% of a vessel’s structure is made from large steel plates and profiles. For large ships, components such as decks, ribs, and side plates often range from 20–60 mm in thickness and require complex bevel processing for welding.

Han’s Laser’s L/LB and HL/HLB Series ultra-large-format (bevel) laser cutting systems deliver exceptional performance with the core advantages of being larger, more stable, safer, and smarter:

 •Cutting length up to 110 meters and width up to 7 meters, enabling single-pass processing of massive ship components with up to 50% higher efficiency;

 Pure plate-welded linear-rail base and aerospace-grade aluminum gantry ensure precision and long-term stability;

 Intelligent dual-swing A/B-axis bevel head supports ±45° cutting for improved joint strength and quality;

 Integrated dust-extraction system ensures clean, environmentally friendly operation.

These systems achieve highly vertical, burr-free cuts that require minimal or no secondary grinding—effectively addressing the accuracy and efficiency challenges of traditional thermal cutting methods.

Robotic Laser-Arc Hybrid Welding

In ship welding, large structural parts and thick materials often face challenges such as low efficiency, high deformation, and difficulty achieving full penetration. Han’s Laser’s robotic laser-arc hybrid welding system combines the strengths of laser and arc heat sources to deliver high-efficiency, high-quality welding for heavy ship plates.

The system integrates a robotic arm with a seventh-axis ground rail, supporting multiple welding modes including laser autogenous welding, laser wire-filling welding, and laser + hot-wire TIG hybrid welding for various steels.

Key performance features include:

 Dual-sided high-power hybrid welding for plates over 115 mm thick and 6 meters long;

 Narrow-gap welding with single-side groove depth over 58 mm;

 Consistent, high-strength welds ideal for decks, bulkheads, and keels.
